Yankees and Red Sox to play in London in 2019

LONDON (AP) -- The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will face each other in two regular-season games at the Olympic Stadium in London next year. Boston will be the home team for both of MLB's first games in Europe on June 29 and 30, 2019. The stadium will have a capacity of 55,000 in a baseball configuration. MLB says it is also "committed to playing in London in 2020 and our intention is to establish a long-term footprint in the city.

Girl, 12, rescued from house fire dies of injuries

MINERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old girl rescued from a burning house in eastern Pennsylvania last week has died of her injuries. The Lehigh County coroner's office said Tuesday that Nyah-Ann Barnwell died Sunday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital. The death was ruled accidental and due to complications of inhalation injuries. WBRE-TV reported earlier that police and fire rescuers battled extreme heat and smoky conditions Friday afternoon to rescue the girl from a second-floor window of the Minersville home.

More charges filed against pizza shop owner accused of indecent contact with employees

PORTAGE, Pa. (WJAC) — More charges have been filed against a Cambria County pizza shop owner accused of having inappropriate contact with his underage employees. According to a criminal complaint, a fifth person has come forward and is accusing 37-year-old Craig Mazzarese, owner of Craig Mazz’s Pizza in Portage, of making inappropriate comments to her and assaulting her in the basement of the restaurant. The alleged victim told police she worked at the pizza place from July 2017 until September 2018, and during that time Mazzarese constantly made inappropriate comments to her and the other female employees who worked there, according to the complaint.

Sunday hunting ban in Pennsylvania under legislative review for potential lift

Some Pennsylvania lawmakers are looking to lift the ban on Sunday hunting. “Sunday hunting is statutorily prohibited in Pennsylvania,” said Travis Lau, the Communications Director within the PA Game Commission. Lau tells Channel 6 that hunting game like deer or bear has been prohibited on Sundays since the 19th century. “There have long been exceptions for foxes, coyotes, and crows," added Lau. "They been hunted for years on Sundays.” It wasn't until recent years when Lau says hunters were given 3 additional Sundays to hunt.

Taylor Swift adds songs from new record-breaking album to European leg of Eras Tour

WASHINGTON (TND) — Pop superstar Taylor Swift has added songs from her recently-released album to the setlist of the European leg of the Eras Tour. "The Tortured Poets Department," which is the singer's 11th studio album, shattered a number of records upon release in April. It marked her 14th number-one album on the Billboard 200 chart, and tracks from the album secured the top 14 spots on the Hot 100 chart.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thursday's White House state dinner honoring Kenyan President William Ruto offered around 500 guests stunning D.C. views, a knockout menu, a dose of celebrity star power and even a little family drama. "I'm looking forward to having all the conversations,” Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar declared as she arrived, no doubt speaking for many a guest at one of the largest-ever White House state dinners. Country singer Brad Paisley showed up in his signature cowboy hat, and was wearing dual hats as both dinner guest and featured entertainer.

Blair Co. organization displays 'Black Balloons' in honor of loved ones lost to addiction

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The founders of Families United for Change were out Friday morning placing black ribbons along Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg, at the Circle of Hope, in Tuckahoe Park, in Altoona, and downtown Altoona. The purpose of the black bows is to raise awareness for drug addiction and to honor those that have been lost to the disease. They also have a tag containing facts about Narcan, and how community members can go about obtaining this life saving drug.

Changes to state Bingo Law to benefit nonprofit organizations

PERRY TOWNSHIP - A new piece of legislation has changed the state's current Bingo Law, benefiting nonprofit organizations who rely on it to raise money. Act 66 of 2017 was signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolf last week. It updates the state's antiquated Bingo Law, which was enacted in 1981. State Rep. Cris Dush (R-Jefferson/Indiana) said it will help organizations like volunteer fire departments. "It's (Bingo Law) has not kept pace with inflation and these folks have some very expensive equipment that they have to maintain,"

GOP councilman announces he identifies as lesbian 'woman of color,' angering LGBT activists

MUNCIE, Ind. (TND) — A GOP councilman in Indiana has announced that he now identifies as a woman of color and a lesbian, but critics say they believe he is just being insincere and mocking marginalized people by doing so. Delaware County Councilman Ryan Webb announced on Facebook that he had "decided to come out and finally feel comfortable announcing my true authentic self." It is with great relief that I announce to everyone that I identify as a woman and not just any woman but as a woman of color as well.

Naked man causes disturbance in Clearfield County

CURWENSVILLE – A 35-year-old Clearfield County man faces multiple charges after he was seen walking naked through downtown and was taken into custody. State police in Clearfield said they received a report of a man throwing items out a window Monday afternoon at a house on the corner of State and Thompson streets. Police later received several calls about the man walking naked on State Street. Before police arrived, they said the man entered several businesses and damaged personal property.
