As Penn State football prepares to return, so does the stadium's cleanup crew & its recycling policy

University Park, PA (WJAC) — With Penn State football opening its season this Saturday night at Beaver Stadium, fans will once again be asked to get familiar with the blue and clear plastic bags that have become a fixture outside of the stadium. Outside Beaver Stadium, dozens of recycling stations are already in place with the same policy for fans and trash. Blue bags for cans and bottles, clear bags for everything else.

Cambria County couple charged after kids found in hazardous home conditions

Two Cambria County parents are facing charges after authorities allegedly found their children living in deplorable conditions. On Thursday police responded to Joseph Williams’ and Amanda Stephens’ Grant Street home in South Fork after a report of garbage overflowing into the street. According to a probable-cause affidavit, the home was littered with garbage, used diapers and other waste. According to the affidavit, first responders had to wear hazmat suits and use air tanks to safely enter the home.

Local school board approves major renovations for school, new athletic field

EBENSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Central Cambria School District has some renovations coming to its facilities soon. The Central Cambria school board voted to begin multiple construction projects, including a new athletic field and upgrades to its existing football stadium and track. According to district officials, the project is estimated to cost almost $20 million. “When you look at the lighting project, the maintenance building construction, the upgrades of the athletic fields, new installation of athletic fields, we are looking at (a) bond issue and (a) also cash payment for the project price,” said school board President Dennis Simmers.

2 former Penn State frat brothers sentenced to 2 months house arrest, IPP

(WJAC) — Nicholas Kubera, and Jonah Neuman, two former Penn State fraternity brothers, sentenced Monday in Centre County court for their roles in the death of fraternity pledge, Timothy Piazza. Kubera and Nueman were both ordered to spend two months on house arrest, followed by seven months in an intermediate punishment program but neither was given any jail time. They were members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, where police say a 2017 hazing event for pledges led to Piazza's death.
