CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State Police have issued a release on a fatal crash which occurred Saturday in Patton Township shortly before 2am. According to the release, the crash occurred on Interstate 99 North in the area of mile marker 72. Police say the driver, 22-year-old Jordan Henry, failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, strike an embankment, overturn multiple times, and come to a rest on its roof off the roadway.

PITTSBURGH (CNN) — A Pennsylvania woman is being praised for helping rescue an animal in need, but wildlife experts can't quite figure out what the critter actually is. Is it a dog, a coyote or something completely different? “I wasn't quite sure but its behavior, it was scared, and it was cold and all I could think about was this animal needed help,” says Christina Eyth. She says she saw paw prints outside her door in Fairfield Township earlier this week, thinking it could be her neighbor’s loose dog.

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday pledged $135 million in aid to Moldova for energy security and to counter Russian disinformation as the Western-leaning nation struggles to blunt Moscow’s push for influence that has been buoyed by recent successes in its war in neighboring Ukraine. Blinken opened a short visit to Eastern Europe with a stop in Chisinau, Moldova's capital, where he announced the assistance at a news conference with President Maia Sandu.

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Late last year KMPH spotted the FBI digging holes in western Fresno County. It turns out it was linked to a decades-old cold case with accused murderer Paul Allen Perez. In this case, five infant babies were killed between 1992 and 2001. To this day, not all of their bodies have been found. Did the system fail these infants? Were there investigative lapses? Many questions have surrounded this case, but one seems to be at the forefront: How did he get away with this for so long?

Laurel Highlands Conservatory invited Bob Burchfield of the Fairview Energy Center to give a presentation on Saturday. Fairview Energy is an innovative natural gas plant that has the capability of powering over a million homes and went commercial in December of 2019. The plant uses a number of methods to break records in efficiency and make it a viable option in terms of more sustainable energy generation. One of those methods is a combined cycle process that re-captures steam to power a turbine.

POTEET, Texas (WOAI/KABB) — Police in Texas removed over 30 malnourished dogs Wednesday from a property just north of Poteet. The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office hosted a news conference at the property where several dogs were visibly chained in place, living amongst trash. Atascosa County Sheriff Henry Dominguez said that after a report of animal abuse at the property, officers investigated the property and obtained a warrant to seize the dogs.

One Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed new legislation that would end the Sunday hunting ban in the state. According to a memo sponsored by Rep. Mandy Steele (D-Allegheny County), the legislation would repeal the state's prohibition on Sunday hunting and would give the Game Commission the authority to "decide when and how Sunday hunting is permitted." Hunting in PA is a family tradition, an economic powerhouse, and helps preserve our forests for generations to come.

University Park, PA (WJAC) — Plans for renovations at Beaver Stadium could be moving forward. On May 21st, a special meeting of the Penn State Board of Trustees has a topic listed on its agenda as "proposed project approval, Beaver Stadium renovation.” A $700 million renovation project was announced last year to primarily focus on the west side of the stadium, where luxury suites and other improvements would be added.

SANTAQUIN, Utah (KUTV) — The man accused of fatally striking a Santaquin police officer with a semi-truck and fleeing the scene has been previously convicted of attempting the same thing in Oregon, according to court documents. Officials reported that on March 26, 2009, Michael Aaron Jayne attempted to kill an Oregon State Police officer on State Highway 66 by trying to run him over with his vehicle. Jayne was convicted in 2010 for attempted assault in the first degree and possessing body armor as a felon — he was allegedly wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the incident.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty if they win a first-degree murder conviction against a man charged in last month’s shooting death of one police officer and the wounding of another in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Johnathan Jermia Morris, 31, of McKeesport is charged in Allegheny County with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and assaulting a law enforcement officer, as well as firearms crimes in the Feb. 6 shootings about 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Pittsburgh.
