STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) – The charter bus carrying a visiting university’s women’s ice hockey team burst into flames as it entered Penn State’s campus, according to an Alpha Fire Department official.
Fire Director Shawn Kauffman told 6 News no one was injured, and the team’s equipment was already at Pegula Ice Hockey Arena.
It happened just before noon on Friday at the intersection of Porter Road and Park Avenue, right beside Beaver Stadium.
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — State police in Centre County have filed charges against a Lancaster County man following an investigation into accusations that he inappropriately touched multiple young children.
Troopers say a liaison for one area Amish community reported that 31-year-old Gideon Byler, of Gordonville, had been accused of touching several juveniles, ranging from 3 to 10 years of age, within the community.
Investigators say the liaison noted that Byler had been sent away to a facility following the accusations.

NEW YORK (AP) — Markie Post, who played the public defender in the 1980s sitcom "Night Court" and was a regular presence on television for four decades, has died. She was 70.
Post's manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, said Post died Saturday in Los Angeles after a years-long battle with cancer.

Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Jefferson County District Attorney's office confirmed that a former resident of the Punxsutawney area has been sentenced up to 180 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl.
Officials say Douglas Poole was sentenced last Friday to serve 90 to 180 years after being convicted last November.
Poole was found guilty on all 61 charges he faced, which included rape, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault.
Ivan F. Boesky, the flamboyant stock trader whose cooperation with the government cracked open one of the largest insider trading scandals on Wall Street, has died at the age of 87.
His daughter Marianne Boesky told The New York Times on Monday that he died in his sleep, and his wife confirmed Boesky's death to The Washington Post. No cause of death was given.

Barnhill says, strangely enough, that the inn has become a hotspot tourist attraction for paranormal activity, as many believe the site is haunted.

The Transportation Security Administration said Saturday that a new record for most travelers screened in a single day has been set.
On Friday, 2.951 million travelers were screened at airports around the country, surpassing the previous record of 2.908 million on Nov. 26, 2023.

CENTRE HALL -- One man is in the hospital after a propane cylinder exploded inside a home.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at 411 Pennsylvania Avenue. Centre Hall Assistant Fire Chief Barry Fisher says they were called for a house explosion involving a propane cylinder. He says there was no fire and it actually burned itself out. Fisher warned that there's "significant structural damage" to the house. He's asking all neighbors to stay away and caution tape will continue to be placed around the home.
