A closer look inside Johnstown's Center for Metal Arts, awarded $1.5 million grant

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Jordan Kachellek came all the way from London, England for an internship at the Center for Metal Arts in Johnstown. "I love it. I've never been anywhere like this. It's kind of like a one in a million," Kachellek told 6 News. The Center for Metal Arts forging school teaches the craft of blacksmithing with classes ranging from days to weeks long. The nonprofit brings in about 250 students a year -- from all over the United States and world -- to learn to make tools, sculptures, and other projects.

Blair County Sheriff suspends license to carry applications amid coronavirus concerns

Johnstown to hire new police chief, city manager says

JOHNSTOWN -- The search for a new police chief in the city of Johnstown is all but over. City manager Arch Liston told 6 News Wednesday that state police Lt. Robert Johnson will be appointed to the post and will start at the end of June. Johnson, 48, is a Johnstown native and a Ferndale Area High School graduate. He has been with the state police for more 25 years and is currently assigned to the Greensburg barracks as criminal investigation section commander for Troop A.

The landmark law's had an impact on the lives of American women, and people in Centre County celebrated its signing at Penn State University. It was a long, difficult march to achieve Title IX. Penn State celebrated that on Thursday by marching from the "We Are" statue to Old Main, where they held a rally.
